The mass in the abdomen was huge. Twelve centimeters. The docs at Johns Hopkins removed it. The disease has spread. Now we have a battle on our hands. We'll see it through.
The disease is carcinoid syndrome. It is a rare form of cancer. That may be of anecdotal interest but there is a huge downside. Because it is so rare, not much effort is spent in research for treatment or a cure.
So I administer Octreotide by injection three times a day. I am getting pretty good at it.
Maybe I'll start a support group for those affected in our area.
